TRINITY LAW SCHOOL LEGAL CLINICS

Santa Ana, CA

 "Taking It On the Road"

Trinity Law School, in Santa Ana, California is committed to preparing students to flourish as attorneys dedicated to advocate for justice, serve the Church, and pursue the truth throughout the world for Christ. In addition to training in the classroom, Trinity gives students the opportunity to live out their faith and serve the community througha robustclinical program. Students gain valuable training in one of the six clinics which provide mediation services, advocacy in Constitutional Law issues, and legal assistance through pro bono law offices.

Trinity Law Clinic. The flagship of the Trinity’s clinical program is the Trinity Law Clinic which opened in summer 2009 as a partnership with the Orange County Rescue Mission and joins in their objective “to minster the love of Jesus Christ to the least, the last, and the lost.” Located on the campus of the Mission’s Village of Hope in Tustin, this clinic provides services to the residents of the Mission’s multiple programs around Southern California. Under the supervision of an attorney, law students interview clients and work to address many of the biggest legal issues faced by the homeless including family law, criminal law, and debt issues.

Mobile Legal Clinic. Furthering the partnership with the Orange County Rescue Mission, Trinity’s Mobile Legal Clinic opened its doors in 2012.  The clinic was created to be mobile in nature and thus was established in a vehicle outfitted as a moveable law office.  This “law office on wheels” is a walk-in clinic, and operates in conjunction with other mobile services coordinated by the Mission including a mobile medical clinic and a chili van. Each week law students, under the direction of an attorney, work with homeless and low-income residents in downtown Santa Ana. Students interview clients, help complete court or administrative paperwork, assist clients in contacting government agencies, and prepare them for court hearings. Through this ministry, TLS students are able to provide pro-bono legal services to members of society who otherwise may not have access to legal assistance.  This mobile clinic has a unique feature in that it is able to go to the area most populated by the marginalized of Orange County.

To date, the Trinity Law Clinic and Mobile Legal Clinic students, professors, and volunteers have provided over 7400 hours of pro bono legal services to the community.
