4th Annual JUDICIAL GATHERING SPEAK OR NOT TO SPEAK The Changing Norms of Extra-Judicial Communication and Judicial Criticism Welcome Reception: Friday, 5:30 p.m. Gathering: Saturday, 10 am - 4 p.m. Florida Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Bell, Senior Judge of the U.S. Court of Claims Eric Bruggink, U.S. District Court Judges Karon Bowdre, Kristi K. Dubose, W. Keith Watkins and Ohio Appeals Court Judge Carla Moore will co-host the 4th annual gathering of jurists to reflect upon the changing norms of extra-judicial communication and how the bench and bar best responds to judicial criticism, particularly when it is unjust. The gathering will be co-sponsored by a number of law schools including Pepperdine University School of Law, Ave Maria School of Law, Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law, Regent University School of Law, Mississippi College School of Law and Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. The jurist’s reception will be Friday at 5:30 p.m.. The Saturday morning session will consist of a thought-provoking panel moderated by Justice Bell followed by an interactive dialogue. The luncheon with law students and law professors will feature a keynote address, and the afternoon session will feature a judicial panel discussion on more daily concerns facing the judiciary today, continuing from the morning discussions. The gathering is included in the conference registration fee for conference attendees. For jurists and their spouses who simply wish to attend the Judicial Gathering, there is a registration fee of $75 and $50, respectively. |
