3rd ANNUAL JUDICIAL GATHERING

Critical Perspectives on Court Reform, Judicial Restraint & Preserving Judicial Independence in the Constitutional Order

Reception: Friday, October 28, 5:30 pm

Gathering: Saturday, October 29, 10 am - 4 pm

Florida Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Bell, Senior Judge of the U.S. Court of Claims Eric Bruggink, U.S. District Court Judge Karon Bowdre and Ohio Judge Carla Moore will co-host the 3rd annual gathering of jurists to reflect upon court reform, judicial restraint and the preservation of judicial independence in the constitutional order. The gathering will be co-sponsored by a number of law schools, including Pepperdine University School of Law, Ave Maria School of Law, Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law, Regent University School of Law, Mississippi College School of Law, and Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.

The jurists reception will be Friday at 5:30 pm. The Saturday morning session will consist of a thought-provoking presentation by Tennessee Chancery Court judge Frank V. Williams III on the court reform, judicial restraint and the challenge of preserving judicial independence in the pending conflict between judicial supremacists and judicial subjagationists. Judge Williams presentation will be followed by an interactive dialogue. The luncheon will feature an address by Jamie Lash, and the afternoon session will feature a judicial panel discussion on more daily concerns facing the judiciary today, continuing from to our morning discussions.

The gathering is included in the conference registration fee for conference attendees. For jurists and their spouses who simply wish to attend the judicial gathering, a registration of $75 and $50 respectively will be charged to cover the cost of the gathering.
