Director of Legal Services – Job Description

 
Jericho Road Legal Aid Clinic (JRLAC) is a recently formed New York not-for-profit corporation that will provide free legal services to individuals and families in an underserved segment of the west side of Buffalo, New York. JRLAC will provide legal services in the areas of family law, housing and landlord tenant law, labor and employment law, and immigration law. 
 
The Director of Legal Services will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the Clinic and will report to the Clinic’s Board of Directors. Duties will include the development and implementation of procedures for intake interviews and screening of all prospective clients for legal services and for training volunteer lawyers. The position will require some court appearances on behalf of Clinic clients, as well as preparation of legal documents and pleadings. The Director of Legal Services will also be responsible for the preparation of applications for grants and contributions from governmental agencies, foundations, law firms, businesses, churches, individuals and other sources of funding for the Clinic’s operations.
 

The position requires an attorney admitted to practice in the State of New York with two to four years experience. A background in the Clinic’s areas of practice is preferred.   Foreign language proficiency will be an asset, but is not required. Salary commensurate with experience and benefits are competitive. Submit resume to Jeffrey Meyer at jmeyer@baillie.com.
