PRAISES
- Praise God that a Riverside, California trial court has dismissed a "sexual discrimination" suit brought against California Lutheran High School by the parents of two ex-students who allegedly engaged in lesbian behavior. On January 11, 2008, Judge Gloria Connor Trask ruled that a private religious school was notsubject to the Unruh Civil Rights Act (California's anti-discrimination law) because it could not be considered a "business." Give glory to God for granting her wisdom and understanding in her decision and please continue to pray that the Center may be permitted to intervene if and when the parents of the two ex-students appeal the Judge's ruling.
PETITIONS
- Please remember to pray for victory for the Association of Faith-Based Organizations ("AFBO") in the lawsuit it brought against the state of Michigan. Thank God that, on January 11, 2008, Judge Robert Jonker allowed AFBO's lawsuit to proceed despite a motion to dismiss the case brought by Michigan state officials. AFBO is challenging Michigan's State Employees Charitable Campaign for its decision to exclude religiously-affiliated charities. State employees are allowed to voluntarily contribute payroll deductions to any charitable organization as long as it is not considered to be "sectarian." Please pray for Center attorneys as the lawsuit proceeds toward trial.
Thank you for your intercession. Gregory S. Baylor
