Prayer & Praise Newsletter for August 2007
PRAISES
- Praise God that Arlington County Public Schools have agreed to allow Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) to continue distributing flyers on the same basis as other community groups following a federal lawsuit filed by the Center for Law & Religious Freedom.
- Praise God for positive press coverage from Fox News on a case in which the Center for Law & Religious Freedom filed a lawsuit in federal court against University of Florida officials for refusing to recognize a Christian fraternity as an official student organization. They are claiming that the group "discriminates" on the basis of sex and religion, despite the fact that the University recognizes many other single sex and religiously affiliated organizations. Please continue to pray as this case is still pending. The story is available for viewing at http://religiousfreedom.blogspot.com/.
PETITIONS
- Please pray that the U.S. Supreme Court will grant review in Faith Center Church v. Glover, a case involving access to meeting space in which the Center filed a friend of the court brief.
- Please pray for us as we prepare the opening brief in our appeal of a lower court ruling that state officials did not violate the Constitution by denying state student aid to students attending Colorado Christian University. This case, too, has the potential to broadly impact students' ability to direct student aid to religiously affiliated schools.
Thank you for your intercession. Gregory S. Baylor
