Kim Colby
Kim Colby is Special Counsel for the Center for Law and Religious Freedom. Until August 2007, she served as Senior Legal
Counsel for the Center. Kim joined the Center in 1981.
Kim is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her
law degree from Harvard Law School in 1981.
After graduating from law school, Kim joined the Center staff and she has primarily worked in the area of religious liberty
on equal access matters and friend-of-the-court briefs. Kim has authored several CLS publications, including Religious Released
Time, A Guide to the Equal Access Act, and Teachers & Religion in Public Schools. She also helped draft the Equal Access
Act, and she is an acknowledged expert on religious expression in public schools.
